EnotRemote

The computer’s address

Every computer in EnotRemote has a nine-digit address. It changes every minute, like a code in an authenticator app: whoever connected once can’t come back without your permission, even with the address and password written down.

Where to see the address

On the “This computer” card in the app’s sidebar. The ring next to the address shows how long until it changes. An address you read out still works for a minute after the change, so it is fine to pass it on by phone.

For a computer to be found by itself

  1. Connect to the computer with its current address.
  2. On the other side, in the “Accept” window, open “Permissions”, turn on “Allow to connect again”, then press “Accept”.
  3. The computer appears in your “My computers” and from then on is found by itself, at an address only these two computers know. It changes every minute too and is shown on the card with a ring.

Allowed to come back

The list is in “Settings”, under “This computer’s address”. “Revoke” next to a computer takes the permission away: after that it can no longer find yours.

“Address changed” in recent connections

A session without permission to come back stays among recent connections marked “Address changed”. If you pick it, EnotRemote asks for the current address instead of connecting by the old one: get it from the person you are connecting to.

A fixed address

For servers and scripts where the address is written in advance, you can choose “Fixed” in “Settings”, under “This computer’s address”. Then anyone who knows the address and password can come back, so for an ordinary computer keep the address that changes.
