Can’t connect
First the simple things: EnotRemote is running on both computers, you are signed in on both, and both have internet. Then go by the message the app showed.
“Computer … is offline”
That computer is not in touch with the service: EnotRemote is closed there, nobody is signed in, the computer is asleep or has no internet. A computer accepts connections only while someone is signed in on it.
“There’s no computer with the address …”
Check the digits. The address changes every minute: ask for the current one, shown on that computer’s “This computer” card next to a countdown ring.
“That computer is offline or doesn’t let you back any more”
The old address no longer works. Ask for the current address and connect with it. For the computer to appear in your “My computers” by itself, the other side ticks “Allow to connect again” when accepting.
“The computer didn’t respond within … s”
Something stands in the way, usually the network. Try “Always through the relay” in the computer’s menu or “Reconnect through the relay” in an open session. EnotRemote sends data over UDP: if a network blocks UDP entirely (some offices and hotels do), the connection fails both directly and through the relay.
“The request was declined on that computer”
The person there pressed “Decline”, or nobody answered within a minute. Ask them to press and hold “Accept” when the window appears.
“That computer is busy with another session”
Someone else is connected to it already. Wait until that session ends.
“Too many wrong passwords”
After several wrong unattended-access passwords, signing in with a password closes for a short while. Wait a little and check the password: the keyboard layout and Caps Lock.
“Can’t reach the EnotRemote service”
Check the internet on this computer. If it works, there may be work on the servers: the app announces it in a bar at the top of the window.
“The computer’s key has changed”
The connection was stopped for safety: the computer at this address showed a different key than before. That happens after EnotRemote is reinstalled there. If it was not reinstalled, don’t connect and ask the computer’s owner.
Connected, but the screen is black or the mouse does nothing
If you connect to a Mac: EnotRemote needs the Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions there, in System Settings under Privacy & Security. In the app they come first in the “Getting started” list.
Some windows on Windows ignore you
Windows started as administrator, such as Task Manager, don’t take the mouse and keyboard from ordinary programs: that is how Windows protects itself. Close such a window on the other side or switch to another one.
“Older EnotRemote over there”
That computer runs an outdated EnotRemote. Updates install when the app restarts; if it hasn’t restarted for a long time, update by hand: “Settings”, then “Version and updates”.
