EnotRemote

File transfer

Files and folders move by drag and drop right onto the session screen and back, or through the clipboard: copy on one computer, paste on the other. Between Mac and Windows in any combination. Large files go in the background without slowing control.

To the other computer

  1. Take files or folders in Finder or Explorer and drag them onto the session screen.
  2. Let go over a folder or the desktop of that computer: the files land there. On Windows, Windows itself shows the file icon and where it will drop, as with any drag. On a Mac, files go into the Finder window under the pointer, or onto the desktop if there is no Finder window there.
  3. Changed your mind? Move the files past the edge of the session window without letting go: nothing is dropped.

From that computer to yours

Press and hold a file on that computer’s screen, pull it past the edge of the session window and let go in a folder or on the desktop on your side.

Copy and paste

  1. Copy files or a folder on one computer as usual: Ctrl+C in Explorer or Cmd+C in Finder.
  2. Paste on the other: Ctrl+V in Explorer or Cmd+V in Finder. On a Mac, Telegram, Mail and other apps that take files paste them too.
  3. Until you paste, nothing goes over the network, even if you copied several gigabytes. When you paste in Finder, it shows its own progress bar and can cancel the copy there.

Screenshots and text

A copied screenshot pastes on the other computer as a picture, not a file. Text is copied both ways, as before.

How much is left

A pop-up shows a bar, the percentage, the speed and how much has gone out of how much, with a “Cancel” button. If that computer stops taking the files, the pop-up says so too.

If files didn’t arrive

  • “It has an older EnotRemote or the shared clipboard is off there”: update the app on the other side. Files go with the “Clipboard” permission: it has to be on under “Permissions” when connecting.
  • “Nothing where you let go of them takes files”: drop them on a folder or the desktop.
  • “Sending to … stopped”: the copy was cancelled there or the connection broke. Drag the files again.
  • “A file on that computer changed while it was being sent”: wait until it is written and drag it again.

It is safe

Files go inside the same session, encrypted from computer to computer. If the shared clipboard is not allowed in the session, files go neither way.
